For consulting, the skills of this area will continue to change in the coming years and cloud protection will be a priority for companies.

Research and consulting firm Gartner this week highlighted some key points in the cybersecurity market for years to come.

For the company, security experts need to understand four things: can't fix everything, there's no way to make 100% assets secure, it's impossible to know how safe each asset is, and companies may not know how secure their digital partners are.

Despite these uncertainties noted above, Gartner, which holds a conference on Security & Risk Management in SP on August 8th and 9th, clearly see five cyber security trends for 2017 and 2018. Check out the list below:

Skills and cybersecurity will continue to change

With unemployment rate 0%, the security skill set is scarce. The market needs and will continue to need new types of skills because cybersecurity is evolving into areas such as classes and data governance. "It's a problem that security experts have managed to get around so far, but the reality is that over the next three to five years, companies will generate even more data," says Perkins. Changes in cybersecurity will require new types of data science and analytics skills. The overall increase in information will bring the need for artificial security intelligence. Skills in adaptive technologies will be critical to the next phase of cybersecurity.

Cloud security will become top priority for many companies

As the cloud environment matures, it becomes a security target and will begin to have problems. It is quite possible that companies' growing demand for shared cloud services will make technology more unstable, insecure and more subject to a serious problem common to other environments. When it comes to the cloud, security experts will have to decide who they will trust and who they won't. Companies need to create security guidelines for public and private cloud usage and follow a cloud usage decision model to guard against risks.

Change your focus of protection and prevention

“Replace the investment you are making in prevention and start targeting it evenly for detection and response. The truth is that you won't be able to stop all threats and will have to face them, ”says Perkins. A well-paid, committed person who wants to dedicate himself to your business will take care of it, even though it is the weak link in the chain. This means focusing your security strategy on detection, response, and remediation. This is the biggest cybersecurity challenge today. In the future, this is likely to change to predict what may come before something happens.

Application and data security will depend on operations center development

There is a new window of opportunity in application security that most companies don't take advantage of because of cost. The time has come to find the right way to evaluate the value of security and how to best explain it to the company. In addition, DevOps must become DevSecOps, focusing on security. This is a good time to combine development with operations. The time for launches to hit the market is greatly reduced and creates a continuous connection between development and operation, meaning that it is important to stop treating the two as separate units. It's time to bring security to DevOps or, if the staff is not internal, to ask the service provider what kind of security it offers.

Digital ecosystems will drive next generation security

Security, reliability and privacy are also part of cybersecurity. When these systems begin to have a direct physical impact, the organization becomes responsible for the safety of people and environments. Without the help of security, people will die. The reliability portion is critical to the operations and production environments or to any asset-focused company.
