Cybersecurity is a growing business concern - and there are few Brazilians who specialize

Even with 13.5 million unemployed Brazilians, the area of  cybersecurity in the country has lag in the number of qualified professionals while growing at a rapid pace. Not a point outside the curve: worldwide there is a lag of this type of expert.

According to a recent study by Deloitte, the world market will have more than 1.5 million vacancies by 2019 in this sector, while the damage caused by attacks hackers to large companies. Those crimes should generate losses of US$ 6 Trillion in 2021, against US$ 3 Trillion in 2015.
Another survey by the Cybersecurity Nexus (CSX) ISACA, in the United States, showed that 59% receive at least five candidates for each vacancy opening cybersecurity area while only 13% of them receive 20 or more proponents. For comparison, vacancies in other areas tend to attract, on average, between 60 and 250 candidates.
Lag and search per high degree of knowledge are just some of the factors that make the area well paid. According to a study published earlier this year by consulting Robert Half, the security area among tech professionals pays salaries between R$ 3.1 thousand (for the position of analyst) and R$ 22K (among security managers).
“Today what we are looking for in a candidate is that he has an innovative profile, because there are always updates and news, that has a keen level of curiosity and, especially, that has the ethical issue as a strong feature, as the professional will handle extremely sensitive information, needing to manage and deal with the company's core asset - this information and the strategy issue, ”explains Nara Saddi, the company's Human Resources Manager. For her, the market is scarce in terms of talent.
The profile can also be impeding when selecting the professional. “In IT security, many of them [candidates] end up having to report to other areas within the company, which is very difficult for this professional who prefers to act alone. A striking feature is that they prefer to deal with tools and processes rather than people and are satisfied with results that depend almost exclusively on their individual work, but when working with cybersecurity there is a need for behavioral adaptation of this technician to meet politics and culture the company because it has to dialogue with other sectors and act directly with confidential information from corporations and people, ”he adds.
