Ransomware is the most advanced malware in the world. To help educate the technical community and users about this threat, the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) has released a Ransomware Protection Guide, which conceptualizes the risk of this malware, defines the most common types of attacks used. in this type of threat and advises on relevant protection practices.

The PCI Security Standards Council was founded by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard, and Visa, with the mission of enhancing payment account data security by promoting education and awareness of PCI Security Standards.
